MY STORY

My meditation journey has not been linear but it’s the twists and turns that have given me great adventures, lifelong friends, wonderful life lessons and skills and the commitment to a daily meditation that continues to amaze me. Meditation is the gift that keeps on giving!

My first passion was music and singing so I auditioned for the conservatory of music. I didn't have a singer teacher or a pianist to accompany me like the other candidates, just a supportive younger brother who drove me, via the pub for a nerve soothing scotch on the rocks, to my audition. It didn’t go well. I felt humiliated but I was not defeated! If I couldn’t sing, I could play the music I love on the radio. So, I enrolled in radio school while DJ’ing and hosting karaoke nights to pay the bills.

I took my resume to Triple M, Adelaide and landed a job beginning a career that has lasted 30 years.

I also love children and I’m a natural working with kids which led to hosting the cult kids TV show, Challenger. Soon after, I found myself a single mum with 2 kids of my own under 4. Realising Voice Over work was more flexible and better money than radio, I shifted gears to focus on this, as well as other TV and DJ gigs.

When I first started in radio I worked 85 hours a week for little pay but didn't care as I loved my job. The same feeling came with Voice Over work, honing a new skill, meeting new people and getting paid well for something I loved doing.

Meditation came to me ‘by accident’ after I had an accident, literally, and tore the ACL in my knee. On crutches and out of action, I read a book given to me called Siddha Yoga written by Guru Muktananda. Everyday I sat in the sun and visualised my knee was healed. I imagined the feeling of moving with ease. When I returned to the surgeons for a knee reconstruction six weeks later they were astounded at my brilliant recovery. I was walking with ease and swimming 3 kms everyday, and while I swam I would repeat the Siddha Yoga mantra I had been given over and over in my head. Om Nama Shivaya. It means, I kneel before myself. The idea is, if you can love yourself completely, you can love everyone else.

My meditation practice and daily swims became less frequent as I travelled and began my radio career and then motherhood. It was at a child’s birthday party I was double jumped on a trampoline my old knee injury resurfaced. So did my meditation practice and this time it stayed. Meditation became my new passion.

Studying meditation has taken me to Brazil, India, Indonesia, and the USA. I consider the biggest blessing it gives me is to share the gift of meditation, teaching Children, Teens and Adults. I love it and I sincerely hope you gain the insights, wisdom, courage and LOVE meditation brings.

I’m in the very fortunate position now, with the energy and time, the inspiration and motivation to teach full time. If you have any enquiries regarding private, group or corporate classes, events, one on one energy healing sessions, or keynote speaking, feel free to contact me. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and I look forward to meeting you.
